Need a repair after reading?
A compatible board needs the relevant model and configuration checked, including processor and graphics version, power requirements, connectors and other fitted assemblies. Two boards advertised for the same family name may not provide the same specification. The quote should state what replacement is proposed and any change that affects your machine.
A motherboard change can affect device identity and security settings. Tell us whether BitLocker, organisation management or another encryption system is in use. Keep recovery information available through your own account or IT team. Do not post recovery keys or passwords in a public message. Confirm whether setup, operating-system work or drivers form part of the quote.
Ask whether the measured fault supports component repair, a replacement board or further assessment. Cooling, liquid damage, charging and a failed connected part can change the decision. We discuss whether the repair is sensible for the condition and usefulness of the laptop rather than assuming a board replacement is always the answer.
