Start with the volume display or menu
On an LG television with sound and a dark picture, note whether pressing the volume button produces a visible indicator. If the on-screen display appears, the external source, selected input or cable deserves attention. If nothing appears, report that too. This is an observation for the repair enquiry, not proof that a particular board or panel has failed. Stop testing if there is heat, burning, liquid exposure or obvious electrical damage.
OLED and LED/LCD require different repair discussions
Send the exact LG model from the rear label and the screen size. An OLED display does not use the separate LED backlight strips fitted behind an LCD panel. That distinction matters when discussing a dark screen, uneven brightness or a backlight quotation. A fault description copied from a different display technology can send the enquiry in the wrong direction.
Describe where the fault appears
Explain whether the symptom appears in the television menu, a built-in app, live television or only one connected device. For lines, colour patches or intermittent picture loss, send a photo that includes the whole screen and a short video if the symptom changes. Do not press on the panel, open the cabinet or keep reconnecting damaged sockets to try to restore the image.
Choose a repair with the rest of the set in mind
The condition of the panel, age of the set, availability of compatible parts and total cost determine whether an LG TV repair is worthwhile. A repairable power or input fault is a different decision from a physically broken panel.
